Lancet Commission on Global Surgery is calling for your input

The Lancet Commission on Global Surgery is working to make the case for investing in surgery and anaesthesia as part of healthcare in lower and middle income countries (LMIC).  The Commissioners would like to hear as many views as possible to feed these into the final 25,000 word Lancet publication to be published next year. We know that anaesthesia and surgery faces many challenges including creating an adequate workforce, training, facilities, infrastructure, equipment and drug supply.

The Commission will offer a great opportunity to present to the World Health Organization, Health Ministries and major donors the facts about the current poor provision of surgery and anaesthesia in LMIC. The Commission shall also describe potential solutions and funding. Many people are affected by the need for surgery and the Commissioners are keen to capture an overall view of the situation and are seeking views on any aspect of anaesthesia services and their development which you feel is important.

You can contribute to the Commission:

1. By answering a short questionnaire, mainly aimed at anaesthetists who work regularly in LMIC

2. By submitting a 500-word summary comment to the Commission
