|Name: Franziska Schirmer Lewis
Event: SHAPE Women’s Half-Marathon
Date: 30th April, 2017
Where: Central Park, NYC
What motivated you to support Lifebox?
I visited the Hôpital Albert Schweizer in Haiti in July 2016 as a documentary photographer. The doctors and staff told us that pulse oximeters are much needed. In addition, my friend and documentary videographer, Lauren Anders Brown, has previously ran a race to donate Lifebox devices to HAS as well. I wanna do the same:)
Taking on a half marathon is a real challenge – why did you choose this particular event?
I run a half-marathon once a year to stay in shape and stay healthy and have ran this particular race twice before. It’s a great all women race in Central Park in NYC.
How much training are you doing (or do you plan to do!) in preparation?
I have been running three days a week. A short and fast run, a medium distance, and long distance run. I plan to train up to 11 or 12 miles and am saving 13 miles for race day.
What advice would you give to someone training for a half marathon?
I you dream it, you can do it!
What do you aim to achieve in taking on this event?
Running for this awesome organization, Lifebox, I’m hoping I can fundraise three pulse oximeters for HAS, which will continue to help save lives in Haiti.
