PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Lifebox is seeking an energetic self-starter who is interested in playing an important role in our growing development program, including fundraising campaigns, donor relations, database management, conferences, and special events. The Development Assistant ensures the smooth running of administrative operations related to our development functions, including support for donor cultivation and stewardship activities, gift processing and timely donor acknowledgments, along with data entry.

The role requires excellent people, organization, and communication skills; acute attention to detail; a high degree of ethics and professional integrity; and an ability to engage colleagues, partners, and stakeholders in alignment with Lifebox’s vision and objectives. This position is full-time, based in New York and reports to the Development Manager. The Development Assistant will work and coordinate with colleagues around the world, including members of our global communications team to ensure the Lifebox brand and messaging work in synergy with development efforts.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure detailed and accurate donor contact management and activity tracking in the Lifebox CRM – Salesforce – including ongoing accurate data entry and updates for contact information, gifts, cultivation, and event activities and reporting;

Research development prospects, propose opportunities, prepare reports;

Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence;

Assist with coordinating and implementing fundraising campaigns;

Provide timely and high-quality support for donor meetings, including preparing correspondence, proposals, and presentations;

Support fundraising event planning and logistics as needed;

Support and attend conferences as needed including planning and logistics;

Prepare materials for distribution (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, emailing);

Handle all administrative details associated with related meetings and events (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, schedule meetings and so on);

Analyze fundraising data and prepare reports for leadership;

Contribute to maintaining Salesforce accuracy conducting data entry and other database related tasks as needed;

Assist in other administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling meetings and calls; travel coordination for CEO.

SPECIFICATIONS

Experience

Bachelor’s degree;

Demonstrated interest and experience in nonprofit fundraising (1-2 years preferred);

Interest in global health and the work of Lifebox;

Experience with databases and data entry (preferably Salesforce);

Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills;

Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects and manage priorities and workflow;

Acute attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills;

Versatility, flexibility, and ability to organize, multi-task and effectively function in a fast-paced environment;  

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision (note: The Development Assistant will be working at a co-working space in Brooklyn, NY with limited colleagues available in-person);

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google Apps;

Passion, enthusiasm, focus, creativity, and a positive outlook;

Strong commitment to excellence and working with the highest ethics and integrity.
