Safe delivery_Good News Hospital_Madagascar_2012_Hospitaly Vaovao MahafalyMadagascar is the 4th largest island in the world, with a population of 22 million. Less happily, it ranks 23rd from the bottom of the United Nations Health Development Index.

Up until now our work here has focused at two hospitals, but that’s about to change.  With Mercy Ships’ postponed trip to Benin, we’re accompanying the world’s largest floating hospital to Toamasina in 2015.  We’ll be working with on-board crew and local colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to introduce the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist.
