Lifebox works with Smile Train

Lifebox is proud to announce an ongoing collaboration with Smile Train, an international charity that provides free cleft lip and palate surgery for children in developing countries.

Since 2000, Smile Train has provided almost a million free surgeries for children.  Like Lifebox, they believe that education and training are key to a sustained change in global health, and they provide free cleft-related training and developed Safety and Quality Improvement protocols for their doctors and medical professionals.  They use the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist, which is proven to reduce patient mortality.

They also know that safe anaesthesia is crucial to safe and successful surgery.

Smile Train are donating a Lifebox oximeter to each of their partner hospitals, more than 2000 around the world.

“We hope that by providing…this important equipment [our partners] will be better able to ensure the safety of cleft patients and others being treated” – Jill Woodcome, SVP Programs.

Work is underway, and Lifebox oximeters are already in the field.

“We try to provide affordable and quality treatment to all who are in need and this we can not do without your help.  With your donation, our Anaesthesia department is now better equipped to help us achieve our goals” – Chief Executive, Smile Train partner hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Lifebox thanks  Smile Train, whose generous contribution, executive involvement and strategic insights helped make this project a reality.
