Student Groups

You’ve heard it before, students are the future of global surgery! And we’re proud to work with student networks around the world in advocating for safer surgery and anaesthesia.

Join the movement by connecting and sharing with the groups below.

The Global Surgery Student Alliance (GSSA) is the national student-run global surgery working group for the U.S. affiliated with InciSioN. They have helped build global surgery student groups at medical schools across the country and are connecting students who are interested in the field. By exposing students to global surgery early on, GSSA hopes to empower them to get involved and to build their surgical careers with global surgery in mind while remaining connected with colleagues around the country and the world. GSSA is focusing its efforts on advocacy, education, and research, and serves as a resource for students who want to make an impact on the field of global surgery.

InciSioN is the International Student Surgical Network, the largest student-run Global Surgery network with over 2200 members in over 70 countries, and 14 fully established National Working Groups in all regions around the world.

InciSioN is a collaboration of medical students, residents and young doctors who have come together to discuss about, educate on, advocate for, and perform research in Global Surgery, trying to contribute to achieving timely access to safe and affordable surgical, anaesthesia and obstetric care for everyone, everywhere, when needed.
