India COVID-19 Response
As the COVID-19 pandemic surged in India, Lifebox has provided emergency support to our partners.
Lifebox is providing direct assistance to our anesthesia partners in Maharashtra – one of India’s worst affected states – and where Lifebox has worked with anesthesia and surgical partners for the past five years.
In the district of Nanded, we are working with our partners to provide equipment to rural hospitals for the safe management of COVID patients, such as personal protective equipment (PPE).
Medical equipment to support Solapur’s COVID-19 management centers.
With emergency funding from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), we are supporting the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in the district of Solapur in its partnership with the local government to set up a COVID-19 patient management center with medical equipment and oxygen resources – including pulse oximeters and ventilators.
SNF’s support has also enabled Lifebox to partner with India COVID SOS, to develop a video to provide guidance on the use of pulse oximeters to monitor COVID-19 patients at home, and when to seek professional and which is available in five languages.
More than 1,000 Lifebox pulse oximeters have been distributed throughout India in recent years for anesthesia care. These oximeters are being repurposed, enabling providers to detect and provide care for COVID patients.
